The submission process has now closed. Please contact Rachel Cook rachel@conference.nz should you have any questions.

The National Rural Health Conference Organising Committee has invited attendees to submit an abstract for presentation at the National Rural Health Conference 2024.

Shaping the conference the values of tūhononga/connection, ranga wairua/inspiration, mātauranga/knowledge and tupuranga/growth underpin and provide guidance to us all as we come together to meet the challenge of Kahikatea tū i te uru | Growing stronger, together.

This is an important and timely opportunity to connect and share knowledge that can influence the New Zealand health system reforms and ensure that every rural New Zealander, Māori, and non-Māori has the opportunity to thrive and enjoy healthy and rewarding lives.

Themes

  • Equity – moving towards health equity
  • Leadership – development / sustainability / rangatiratanga
  • Technology – we can use it so much more in rural areas
  • Resilient Communities – climate change / sustainability / environment
  • Grow the workforce – clinical, business and personal skills

Presentation types

Presentation types:

  • Oral – 20 minute presentations + five (5) Q&A.
  • Posters – Posters will be displayed in the exhibition and catering area on electronic screens.
  • Lightning talks – a short presentation for five (5) minutes. The goal of a lightning talk is to articulate a topic in a quick, insightful, and clear manner. These concise and efficient talks are intended to grab the attention of the audience and to convey key information.
  • Workshops - presented on Thursday 4 April.

Abstract format

Please note all abstracts must be submitted electronically. When composing your abstract, please carefully follow the guidelines below.

Note that you should indicate your preferred presentation format and with which of the conference themes listed above you think your abstract best aligns.

  • Maximum of 250 words.
  • Do not insert any tables or figures as your abstract will be as plain text, rather than an uploaded document.
  • Check spelling and grammar. Submitted material will be published in conference materials - the abstract should, therefore, contain no errors.
  • Standard scientific abbreviations may be used - non-standard abbreviations should be included in parenthesis after the first use of the full word.
  • Do not indent paragraphs.
