In the spirit of manaakitanga* the Society of Construction Law New Zealand is looking forward to welcoming delegates to the 9th International Society of Construction Law Conference 2020 being held in Auckland, New Zealand 4-6 November 2020.
Auckland, also known as Tāmaki Makaurau, is New Zealand's largest city which is currently experiencing unprecedented growth with large infrastructure projects such as the City Rail Link and Commercial Bay projects currently under construction. Our modern city is surrounded by natural beauty with sparkling harbours and native forests and is the gateway to the rest of the country.
Auckland has a distinct Polynesian flavour - including its unique Māori culture - which we will take pride introducing our visitors too. In addition, there is an abundance of activities and adventures on Auckland's doorstep which will sure to tempt you to extend your stay in Auckland.
We encourage delegates to also consider experiencing other unique aspects that New Zealand has to offer. Whether you are a Tolkien fan and wish to explore middle earth (Hobbiton is a mere 2 hours drive from Auckland), visit Rotorua's active volcanic region or step on a glacier, New Zealand can oblige. Christchurch is being rebuilt following the devasting Canterbury earthquakes and the main trunk line through Kaikoura has now reopened (this is a wonderful scenic train journey). Wellington cannot be left out with its Transmission Gully Project now coming to fruition.
SCL(NZ) will be delivering a first class conference for delegates which will fulfil the SCL objectives to promote the education, study and research of construction law.
The theme of our conference this year is: "Building for Change"
On behalf of us all here in New Zealand we look forward to sharing with you our special place in the world and what makes us unique.
Haere mai, we welcome you to Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand.
