Gael Surgenor is the Director of Community and Social Innovation at The Southern Initiative, one of the Auckland Council's two big priorities for social, economic and physical regeneration. Gael's focus is on transformational change, and people, as its priority in South Auckland. She has spent the past two years recruiting a team of strategic doers, intrapreneurs and change makers to build relationships, trust and enterprise with the local community and partners. TSI concentrates on a small number of projects and initiatives which produce high-quality results effecting deep, impactful change which fit within South Auckland's philosophy "only the hood can change the hood". TSI has strong relationships with The Roots Creative Entrepreneurs and CIDANZ proving local government and its communities can effectively work together to achieve greater social and economic good.
